<p>The article provides a critical analysis of the concept of consent in the law of treaties. Itexamines the correlation between the formal procedures for expressing consent established by the 1969 Vienna Convention and the actual will of the participating states. Particular attention is given to the issues of treaty interpretation, the identification of grounds for the invalidity of consent, and the academic discourse surrounding a broader understanding of economic and political coercion. Ultimately, the study emphasizes that the international legal system is founded on the principle of legal equality, and the factual asymmetry of the parties does not, in itself, constitute a defect of consent</p>
<kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>согласие</kwd><kwd>право международных договоров</kwd><kwd>Венская конвенция</kwd><kwd>волеизъяв ление</kwd><kwd>принуждение</kwd><kwd>толкование договоров</kwd><kwd>согласование воль</kwd><kwd>недействительность договоров</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>consent</kwd><kwd>law of treaties</kwd><kwd>Vienna Convention</kwd><kwd>expression of will</kwd><kwd>coercion</kwd><kwd>treaty interpretation</kwd><kwd>coordination of wills</kwd><kwd>invalidity of treaties</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><ref id="ref1"><mixed-citation publication-type="other" xml:lang="en">Tunkin, G.
