<p>In penitentiary practice, the classic opposition between freedom and unfreedom acquires paradoxical depth. Total restriction of external autonomy, contrary to intuition, often becomes a catalyst for extraordinary internal activity unfolding in the space of memory, imagination, and reflection. At the intersection of penitentiary psychiatry, existential psychology, and neurobiology, the article analyzes the phenomenon of «inner escape» as a complex, multidimensional process of preserving subjectivity under conditions of deprivation. It is argued that the formation of an «inner dacha», an intimate mental refuge, performs notonly a compensatory butalso an existential meaning-making function, allowing a person to maintain the integrity of the self where external structures seek to level this integrity. The clinical boundaries of this phenomenon are identified, beyond which adaptive mechanisms transform into pathological forms of autistic withdrawal or derealization. Understanding inner freedom as a resource opens newperspectives for rehabilitation, shifting the focus from external control to supporting the capacity for meaning-making</p>
<kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>пенитенциарная психиатрия</kwd><kwd>свобода воли</kwd><kwd>внутренний побег</kwd><kwd>экзистенциаль наяпсихология</kwd><kwd>депривация</kwd><kwd>рефлексия</kwd><kwd>субъектность</kwd><kwd>реабилитация</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>reflection</kwd><kwd>subjectivity</kwd><kwd>rehabilitation</kwd><kwd>deprivation</kwd><kwd>penitentiary psychiatry</kwd><kwd>free will</kwd><kwd>inner escape</kwd><kwd>existential psychology</kwd></kwd-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><ref id="ref1"><mixed-citation publication-type="other" xml:lang="ru">Искандаров Р.Р.
