Данная статья посвящена ретроспективному рассмотрению некоторых аспектов деятельности одного из институтов Российской империи. Внимание автора сосредоточено на том, какой вклад внес Илларион Иванович ВоронцовrДашков, один из последних наместников российского императора на Кавказе. Интерес к теме вызван ее своевременностью в свете провозглашения текущего года годом единства народов России. Автор обращает внимание на то, что незнание истории собственной страны и безразличие к судьбе собственного народа – это путь в никуда, дорога духовной деградации и потери национальной идентичности. Особый интерес автора вызывает устройство Терской области и ситуация, сложившаяся в ней в период восстановления наместничества. Целью работы является краткий анализ того, как складывались взаимоотношения имперского центра с Кавказом в период до упразднения наместничества и после его восстановления. В числе прочего автор затрагивает вопрос о роли личности в истории, в частности о том, какие преобразования, прежде всего в Терской области, удалось реализовать И.И. ВоронцовымrДашковым либеральными методами.

This article is devoted to a retrospective examination of certain aspects of the activities of an institution of the Russian Empire. The author focuses on the contribution m VorontsovrDashkov, one of the last viceroys of the Russian Emperor in the Caucasus. This topic is of particular interest due to its timeliness, given the proclamation of this year as the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. The author draws attention to the fact that ignorance of one's own country's history and indifference to the fate of one's people are a road to nowhere, a path to spiritual degradation and the loss of national identity. The author is particularly interested in the structure of the Terek Oblast and the situation that developed there during the restoration of the viceroyalty. The aim of the work is to briefly analyze the relationship between the imperi center and the Caucasus in the period before the abolition of the viceroyalty and after its restoration. Among other things, the author touches on the role of the individual in history, in particular the reforms, prim the Terek Oblast, that I.I. VorontsovrDashkov managed to implement using liberal methods.
